About Autism Rocks
Who are you?
Doug, Kait, Charlotte, and Logan are a family of five who reside in the Sacramento region. In 2021 our son (Logan) was diagnosed with Level 2 Autism. We also have close friends and family on this autism journey and have been some of the most excellent support systems.
When did you start Autism Rocks Foundation?
We came up with the idea in 2021 when Logan was diagnosed. Orginally it was a fundraising campaign for UC Davis Mind Institiute. After we successfully help raise (with all your help) over $34,000 we realized we could make a significant impact locally in Sacramento.
Why did you start this?
As for any parent, you want nothing but what is best for your child, and you will do whatever it takes to ensure your child thrives, no matter the circumstance.
After Logan's diagnosis, it came to our attention that there are many misconceptions about "Autism". Autism is not a look; Autism is not an illness; Autism is not a label. Autism is your brain working differently from others and seeing the world from different angles. Not everyone with Autism is the same.
In 2020, the CDC reported that approximately 1 in 54 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with ASD. Autism can be reliably diagnosed by age 2, and early intervention affords the best opportunity to support healthy development.
Our son Logan is now four, and we are so blessed to have been able to get a diagnosis at this early age. It allows us to help improve learning, communication and social skills, and brain development.
Join us on this journey to love, educate, support and advocate. We are so thankful to everyone for supporting this cause.
Thank you!
